Round 14: Angels V Mt Waverley Brumbies

The final round against the top team with only six players in miserable weather saw us 2-3 at half time. Despite drizzling rain and freezing conditions, the girls played valiantly, especially in defence. Loads of intercepts all over the court kept the ball out of the opposition goal area, however, with our shooter, Jade absent and goal attack, Catherine, replacing Steph in goal defence, we only shot three goals for the game.

Mt Waverley shot three unanswered goals in the third quarter, so for the last quarter of the season, the girls chose positions. Shayna was brilliant in keeper the whole game, taking a succession of well-timed intercepts. Nicole flew around in centre, as usual, always offering options. Catherine came into shooter in the last quarter and shot the last goal of the season and Christine played goal attack most of the game shot two of our three goals. Jess, ever reliable, in wing defence, put pressure on her opposition to create turnovers and played a good last quater in centre.

Legs tried hard in shooter, offereing strong leads around the post and made a heroic effort in goal defence in the last quarter. Fantastic effort for the season girls and Matthew, you’ve been great to coach. Let’s try and get more attendance at training next season, as it makes such a difference to our game. We’ve spent seven seasons on the bottom NEXT SEASON IS OURS!!!!!!!
